DDOT Authorizes Saturday Work to Assure Timely Completion of the H Street/Benning Road Streetcar Line Posted on August 9, 2013 The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has authorized the DC Streetcar construction team to work every Saturday for as long as needed to assure timely completion of the H Street/Benning Road streetcar line. DDOT has waived the noise restrictions that normally apply from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturdays. For the past several months, construction contractors have worked on Saturdays on a case-by-case basis on various elements of the work on H Street and on Benning Road. Most of the previous Saturday work has been carried out behind the jersey barriers around the work zones along H Street from 4th Street to the top of the Hopscotch Bridge and on Benning Road from 21st to 24th Street. This DDOT directive provides blanket authorization for regular Saturday work, without noise restrictions, anywhere along the H Street/Benning Road streetcar route. It also authorizes, for the first time, Saturday work on the construction of the Car Barn Training Center (CBTC) on the District-owned property at 26th Street and Benning Road.
