Upcoming Pedestrian Impacts Posted on April 12, 2013 The DC Streetcar Design-Build Team will perform construction activities near the sidewalk, creating pedestrian impacts through May 15. H Street North-Side Sidewalk from 3rd Street to Hopscotch Bridge to be Closed for One Month The north side of the H Street sidewalk will be closed from 3rd Street to the top of the Hopscotch Bridge from April 15 to May 15 to facilitate construction activities. The restriction is necessary to accommodate the work of installing OCS (Overhead Catenary System) foundations, which provide the base for mounting the poles and wires that deliver power to run the streetcars. The south side of the H Street sidewalk between 3rd and the bridge will be open and available for use throughout this construction period. Pedestrian impacts include: Pedestrians will be unable to use the north side of the H Street sidewalk between 3rd Street and the top of the Hopscotch Bridge; Pedestrians will be unable to cross H Street at 3rd and will be directed to cross at 4th Street or North Capitol Street; and Residents on 3rd Street south of I Street will still have access to their homes during this construction period, however, access to H Street will be restricted from 3rd.
