Intersection of 26th Street NE and Benning Road NE Will Reopen on Monday Posted on January 10, 2014 On Monday, January 13th at 10:30 am, the intersection of 26th Street NE and Benning Road NE will be reopened to pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Through access from Benning Road NE to Langston Golf Course, the Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering High School, and the Browne Education Campus will be maintained. Motorists will now be able to turn right onto 26th Street NE from Benning Road NE, heading north. Traffic heading south on 26th Street NE will now be able to make a left turn onto Benning Road NE heading east, as well as a right turn onto Benning Road NE heading west. The flashing, yellow traffic signals, for eastbound and westbound Benning Road NE, will return to a standard signalization pattern. The variable message board on Benning Road NE that directs Langston Golf Course patrons to use the driving-range lot for shuttle service will be removed. Oklahoma Avenue Metrobus stop will remain in place of the old 26th Street Metrobus stop on the westbound side of the street. We ask that motorists and pedestrians use caution as they travel through or near the work zone, and follow all restrictions. Please watch for advance warning signs alerting motorists to changes in traffic patterns and detours. All construction activities are contingent upon weather, material and equipment availability and other unforeseen conditions.
